Renaissance Festival

There was a Renaissance Festival in Lawton, ok. this weekend. So we headed up there with some friends to check things out. It wasn't up to par with the KC ren fest, but it was fun anyway.

Unbelievable!!

Hello Everyone!!
Just wanted to share a little about my day. I got up this morning and got ready for work. It started out a pretty good morning. Work was pretty busy but at least I got off at noon. I locked up the office and was chatting outside with a couple of guys I work with about getting my car fixed. I told them I was pretty excited about taking my car in on Monday for the repair. Then I got into my car and started to pull out of my parking spot and all of a sudden a car whips out in front of me in search of a parking spot. She sees a truck pulling out of a parking spot and decides to wait for it to leave. For some reason the truck backed up at a weird angle and the lady in the car decided he needed extra room. She puts her car in reverse and starts backing up. I figured she was just going to back up a little but for some reason she backed up a lot. Then all the sudden everything was in slow motion. I was watching this lady backing up her car right into mine. She scraped her rear bumper and a portion of the side of her car against my front bumper. I can't believe I got hit again! My car has been hit 3 times since I have been here in Texas.

Congrats Andres

Andres, Chris' step-dad, passed his citizenship test on Wednesday!! The test was pretty tough....there were lots of things that none of us knew!! He studied very hard, and we're so proud of him! Andres has lived here for 22 years and he is finally legal to vote! Now all he has to do is decide between Obama or McCain!! Congratulations Andres, we're so happy for you!!

Yay for summer!

So it's been a few days since I blogged. There hasn't been much new going on. We spent the weekend poolside. It doesn't get below 95 during the day here so spending the day at the pool is of course the most logical activity! Yesterday we went to our apartment pool, then today we went over to a friend's pool. It was great because the pool had a whole cookout area poolside too. So we spent the afternoon cooking out and swimming. For those of you wondering about our sunburns...they're about healed. And I found some sunscreen that is spf 70....hopefully that will help!

Airline Mess!

Eli and Alli had a flight out yesterday at 3:30pm. It's a two hour drive to the airport so we headed that way. Along the way it started pouring like a monsoon! I could only see a couple feet in front of us. We were about 10 miles out from the nearest city so we inched along until we got there. We waited out the storm in a McDonalds and Eli got to play. We got the number to check the status of her flight, since the storm was heading to dallas. We waited for a bout an hour and decided to give it a go. I called and checked the status the whole way there and it was on time.....until we were about 10 minutes away....when it was cancelled....sssoooo frustrating. We drove 2.5 hours just to hear there were no flights until 10:30 the next morning.
We decided to make lemonade out of lemons and we went to an outlet mall. Alli got a watch and I got shoes and shorts....it was pretty productive. We looked for a hotel but $130 per night wasn't worth it so we drove on home.
Then, we left at 7am to catch her next flight. Once we got there they tell us...oops, we didn't actually get you on that flight (even though she has the ticket info there with their names on it). After much work they hand her tickets for the 10:10 flight (It was 10:10 right then) so we make a mad dash for the gates. After being picked for a bag search she makes it there but everything's delayed and she's a standby. Luckily it all worked out and she boarded at 12:00pm.....it was a pain but they're finally home!!

FYI #3

The sun in Texas is way hotter than in Missouri!!
We reapplied sunscreen...spf 50 three times and we still ended up with bad sunburns....even Chris!!! Guess we need SPF 100!!Yep...Alli burned her shins and the tops of her feet! FYI If you get a bad sunburn you can rub mustard on it and let it dry...it will pull the heat and the sting out...Alli swears by it!!
